DVJ Focus Points: Perception

Point 1. Just because someone has an expensive camera doesn’t mean that they’re a good photographer.

It is a common view that if someone has a $10,000 camera and all the equipment in the world, they must be good.

Not necessarily.

It isn't the camera that makes a photographer, it's the guy behind the lens. A great photographer can take stunning photos with a Hipstamatic app on their iphone. In turn, a bad photographer can take poorly composed photos on a Canon 60D. Sure the picture quality is miles apart, but what good is 18 megapixels if the shot sucks.

So models, when you are looking for a photographer, don't just go by the type of camera they have. Look at their work. Would you want to be in a picture they took? Would you be proud to post one of them on your profile? If you say no, then continue looking. You will find one that matches where you want to go.
